I love the Caltapa tree. It always blooms the last week of May and sends a shower of white blossoms the first or second week of June. Makes a perfect wedding tree.

Heard “If walls could talk” ? Well they do. First is a tuft of horsehair sticking out of the wall. Before drywall horsehair was mixed with plaster to help it hold together. We have a lot of walls. I have to wonder how they got the hair? Next is wiring on the outside of the wall. It’s called knob and tube. Electrical wires were wrapped in cloth and passed through a ceramic tube where attached to the wall.
Last is hard to see. The custom was to scratch your name in the window glass with the diamond engagement ring, just to make sure it wasn’t paste. This picture is taken through the glass and the shadow appears to show up in the yard or sky. It says Annie Snow 1811 and Emma Smith 1859.
If you’re staying at the Cedars feel free to explore the attic.

Something new for breakfast. Fruit pizza and apple walnut maple muffins followed with corned beef and cheddar omelet served on a bed of fresh spinach and orange French toast. And of course finished with a refreshing serving of lemon sorbet.

Our mission is to provide our guests with the ultimate Bed and Breakfast experience on the lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

We Respect Green

At The Cedars, we use efficient lighting wherever possible. We recycle, compost and have an organic garden which offers fresh vegetables and fruits when in season.  Sheets and linens are line-dried.  We find that many of our guests also choose to be green

by their using linen responsibly and helping us to recycle. However, if at any time you wish to have your linens refreshed, we are happy to oblige.
